Potato printing

Potato printing with kids is a wonderful idea if you are looking for an easy and safe craft to do with children. Printing is fun and safe; the only part you have to watch out is when you are cutting out the shapes on your potatoes and make your own potato stamp.

You will need:

  • Potatoes (number depends on how many different prints you want – one potato makes two prints)
  • Watercolors or textile colors
  • A knife
  • Shirt or a piece of paper
  • A palette or a piece of plastic to squeeze your colors on

STEP 1

Cut the potato in half, and carve out the shape you want.

The places around the shape is pretty hard to cut even so don’t bother just make sure it’s cut deep enough so the rest of the potato won’t be visible in print.

STEP 2

Dip the potatoes in the paint and print them on textile (if you have textile colors) or a piece of paper (if you have watercolors or some other colors).

And voila! I hope you enjoyed potato printing as much as I did.
